Farewell, Mr. Haffmann (Adieu Monsieur Haffmann, 2022) is a French period drama directed by Fred Cavayé — watch it online on iFILM. Paris, 1941. Joseph Haffmann, a Jewish jeweller facing imminent arrest, hands his workshop over to his employee François Mercier in exchange for a hiding place. A private arrangement between two men. Then the months pass.
Daniel Auteuil plays Haffmann and Gilles Lellouche is Mercier — two characters whose balance of power quietly inverts as the German occupation tightens around them. Sara Giraudeau is Blanche, Mercier's wife, whose presence complicates the deal in ways no one anticipated. Adapted from Jean-Philippe Daguerre's stage play, the film compresses the entire moral weight of Vichy France into a single courtyard and three faces.
Cavayé makes tight, disciplined films and this one is no exception: 115 minutes, no detours. It's the kind of historical drama that earns its ending through accumulated tension rather than spectacle. Stream Farewell, Mr. Haffmann (2022) online on iFILM.
