The Boy Behind the Door

The Boy Behind the Door (2020) is an American horror film directed by David Charbonier and Justin Powell — watch it online on iFILM. Bobby and Kevin, two best friends, are grabbed on their way home from school. Bobby wakes up in a car trunk, finds a way out, and runs.

Then he goes back. What follows is Bobby alone inside a stranger's house at night, moving floor to floor, room to room, trying to find his friend without being found himself. Lonnie Chavis carries most of the film without adult support — it is essentially his face and his decisions the whole way through, with Kristin Bauer and Scott Michael Foster as the threat he is trying to outwit.

Charbonier and Powell built the film on a single clean premise: that loyalty can overpower every rational instinct telling you to keep running. There is no supernatural explanation, no creature, nothing inherited from other horror films. Just a kid who made a call. That restraint is exactly what the film earns its tension from.
