Eve of Destruction

A bank robbery triggers a malfunction. The robot absorbs the doctor's buried memories and starts hunting down everyone Simmons ever feared or resented — with lethal precision. Counter-terrorism specialist Colonel Jim McQuade, played by Gregory Hines, is paired with the real Simmons to predict where the machine will strike next. Dutch actress Renée Soutendijk handles both roles — scientist and killing machine — and the film gets real mileage out of that doubling. More psychologically layered than the tagline suggests.
