At first, mother Elizabeth tries medication when Joshua's behaviour turns violent. Z disappears from the boy's life. Then Elizabeth starts seeing him herself. Keegan Connor Tracy carries most of the film as the mother who moves from dismissal to dread, while Jett Klyne plays Joshua with an unsettling calm that makes the early scenes as uncomfortable as the later ones.
