The Fruit of Evolution (2021) is a Japanese isekai anime that laughs at its own genre, and you can watch online on iFILM. High schooler Seiichi Hiiragi gets bullied over his looks until a voice from the sky announces that his whole school is being dropped into a sword-and-sorcery world with levels, stats and skills lifted straight from a video game.

Everyone else is teleported in tidy groups. Seiichi, the loner, lands far off on his own — and promptly eats the so-called Fruit of Evolution. One bite turns the class punching bag into a walking cheat code. From there it is monster fights, a slow-building harem, and a parody of every overpowered-hero cliché at once, gorilla sidekick included.

This show never pretends to be deep, and that honesty is the point. A solid voice cast led by Hiro Shimono carries the gags, with Ryohei Endo and Nana Fujiwara directing.
