Synopsis
Green Frontier (Frontera Verde, 2019) is a Netflix mystery series you can watch online on iFILM. Deep in the Amazon, on the border between Colombia and Brazil, Helena Poveda — a young detective out of Bogotá — arrives to investigate the killings of four missionary women whose bodies turned up near a riverside settlement.
Her only ally is Reynaldo Bueno, a local officer; no one else out here is coming to help. The nearby tribe won't talk, witnesses vanish, and the forest itself seems to push back against the inquiry. The further Helena pushes in, the clearer it gets that the murders are only the surface layer. Somewhere in the trees lives the Mother of the Jungle, a shaman who remembers centuries, and answers tangled up with Helena's own origins.
Directed by Colombian filmmakers including Ciro Guerra of Embrace of the Serpent, the show treats the Amazon not as backdrop but as a living character — wet, breathing, dangerous. Across eight episodes the first season weaves crime with folklore and the long shadow of colonial violence against Indigenous peoples. It suits viewers who want slow, ethnographic mystery over chases. Stream every episode of Green Frontier online on iFILM.
