Synopsis
Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway (2008) is the captured closing night of Jonathan Larson's landmark rock musical — watch it online on iFILM. Director Michael John Warren documented the final Broadway performance, with original cast members Anthony Rapp and Daphne Rubin-Vega returning for the farewell after more than 5,000 shows.
Set in New York's East Village at the height of the AIDS crisis, Rent follows a group of broke artists — musicians, filmmakers, drag performers, activists — trying to hold each other together while poverty and illness close in. Renée Elise Goldsberry, Eden Espinosa, Jesse L. Martin: the closing night cast delivered the score as if the run still had years left in it.
