Synopsis
The Longest Week (2014) is an American comedy-drama directed by Peter Glanz, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Conrad Vallon has spent his entire adult life in the Manhattan hotel his parents owned — ordering room service, reading Sartre, contributing nothing. Then the divorce comes through, his parents cut him off, and he lands on his friend Dylan's couch with no money and no plan.
Within days, he meets Cadence. She's already dating Dylan. Conrad pursues her anyway, because Conrad has never developed a muscle that stops him from doing what he wants. Jason Bateman plays the role with exactly the right ratio of charm to obliviousness. Olivia Wilde is Cadence, and Billy Crudup plays Dylan — patient, decent, and increasingly the one the film feels sorry for.
Glanz drew heavily from Woody Allen's New York playbook, down to the voice-over and the jazz and the characters who dress their selfishness up in quotes from French philosophers. If that's your register, this delivers. If it isn't, Conrad will drive you up a wall. Watch The Longest Week (2014) online on iFILM.
