Synopsis
Antoine and Colette (Antoine et Colette, 1962) is a 30-minute François Truffaut short you can watch online — the second chapter in the life of Antoine Doinel.
At seventeen, Antoine has left home, presses records at a factory and spends his francs on concerts. At one of them he spots Colette and falls hard. He moves into the building across from hers, charms her parents over dinner, and waits for a sign that never quite comes. To her, he stays a friend and nothing more.
Jean-Pierre Léaud returns as Doinel, the role he first played as a runaway kid in The 400 Blows. The film opens the five-country anthology Love at Twenty, and in half an hour it says more about teenage heartbreak than most features manage in two. A small, wry gem for French New Wave fans.
