The Naked Director (全裸監督, 2019), Season 1 is a Japanese dramedy you can watch online on iFILM — eight episodes tracing the rise of Toru Muranishi, a real man who upended Japan's adult-film business in the 1980s.
The season starts him at rock bottom. Broke and barely shifting encyclopedias, Muranishi and his partner Toshi switch to selling adult magazines and build a bookstore chain across Hokkaido. The money brings arrests and a stint on the run, but prison only pushes him toward the next bet — video. That gamble becomes the Sapphire studio, and with it a feud with rivals, a blacklist, and a regulatory commission breathing down his neck. A reckless Hawaii shoot, the shadow of a 370-year sentence, and the arrival of Kaoru Kuroki — who turns into a genuine sensation — drive an arc powered by one man's refusal to quit.
