Synopsis

Everything here happens over the summer of '74. Sue is pregnant with their third, and the worry about money and the birth hangs over the house from the Memorial Day parade onward. Across the cul-de-sac moves Chet, a former Air Force pilot who becomes Frank's instant best friend — a bromance that drags them both further than it should. Sue, meanwhile, fights to get her own invention off the ground through brutal focus groups. Kevin lands in summer school, Bill stumbles into his first relationship and the bruises that come with it, and the finale stretches into a single frantic night of searching the city.
Bill Burr and Michael Price lock the story into one season of the year for the first time, and it pays off — fewer time jumps, tighter arcs.
