Synopsis

Her parents are splitting up, her dad is dating someone barely older than she is, her mom has gone quiet and withdrawn, and her older sister is racing toward a wedding with a fiancé who's clearly wrong for her. Then she runs into the prickly, hard-to-read Macon (Trent Ford), and her airtight case against love starts coming apart.
The movie is adapted from two Sarah Dessen novels and rests on Mandy Moore right as she pivoted from pop charts to acting. Allison Janney as the mother and Peter Gallagher bring a grown-up ache that keeps it from being pure sugar.
