Synopsis
My Wife's Relations (1922) is a silent short comedy from Buster Keaton, and you can watch online on iFILM. Through a clerical mix-up, Buster walks into a marriage office and walks out wedded to a tough, brawling woman he has never met. The ceremony takes a minute; the consequences fill all twenty-seven.
His brand-new wife drags him home to a house packed with her enormous, scowling brothers and a fearsome father. At first the clan wants the stray son-in-law gone by week's end. Then a rumor spreads that he stands to collect a fat inheritance, and suddenly the same men treat him like royalty. Keaton plays his trademark stone-faced everyman, trapped in someone else's family, milking a cramped apartment and a crowded dinner table for one gag after another.
Watch for Wallace Beery in the cast, years before he became a major Hollywood draw. It's twenty-seven minutes of pure physical comedy from the silent era, no dialogue needed to land a single laugh. A treat for anyone who loves stunt-driven slapstick. Stream My Wife's Relations (1922) online on iFILM.
