About

Synopsis

Go West (1925) is Buster Keaton's silent comedy, and you can watch online on iFILM a near-perfect lesson in how screen humor works without a single line of dialogue. Keaton directed it and stars as a drifter the title cards simply call Friendless.

Unable to hold any job back east, he hops a freight car heading west and tumbles out near a working ranch. There he tries his hand at being a cowboy, even though he can barely stay in the saddle. His one real companion turns out to be a cow named Brown Eyes — and to save her, he ends up herding an entire stampede through the streets of Los Angeles in a gloriously absurd parade of confused cattle.

Keaton never once cracks his famous stone face, and that deadpan calm is exactly what makes the stunts funnier. It's a warm, faintly sad film about loyalty, not just a string of gags. Stream Go West (1925) online on iFILM.
