Synopsis
Disciples of the 36th Chamber (1985) is a Hong Kong kung-fu comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Hothead Fong Sai-yuk just can't keep his fists in check, picking fights at school and on streets ruled by the Manchu conquerors of China.
After he wrecks a Manchu school, the authorities put a price on his head, so his mother hides him behind the walls of Shaolin. The task of taming him lands on monk San Te. Endless drills, hard knocks and bruised pride slowly turn a street brawler into a fighter ready to take on corrupt Ching officials.
Lau Kar-leung, a Shaw Brothers master of the form, directs; Gordon Liu returns as San Te, with Hsiao Ho as Fong Sai-yuk. It's the third entry in the 36th Chamber line — lighter on solemnity, heavier on acrobatics and on-camera choreography. One for fans of old-school Hong Kong kung fu.
