Synopsis
The Glimmer Man (1996) is a buddy-cop action thriller directed by John Gray, now available to watch online on iFILM. Steven Seagal plays Jack Cole, a former covert operative turned LAPD detective who resolves conflict with his palms first and a phone call second. Keenan Ivory Wayans plays his loud, wisecracking partner Jim Campbell — the straight man who suspects the cop beside him might actually be more dangerous than their suspect.
When a string of crucifixion murders grips Los Angeles, Cole and Campbell are paired on the case. The two clash almost immediately: Cole meditates with prayer beads; Campbell talks through every meal. As they dig deeper, the killings lead past a lone madman into territory involving terrorism and organized crime — and Cole's classified past turns out to be a thread nobody wanted pulled. Brian Cox shows up in a supporting role and brings exactly the menace the film needs.
The movie leans into the classic odd-couple formula with enough self-awareness to keep it fun. It's one of Seagal's more watchable mid-nineties entries — lighter in tone than some of his earlier work, with Wayans providing genuine comic friction rather than just colour.
