Synopsis
Fantozzi The Return (Fantozzi — Il ritorno, 1996) is an Italian comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Neri Parenti with Paolo Villaggio reprising his defining role as accident-prone accountant Ugo Fantozzi. Heaven, it turns out, is overbooked — so the celestial bureaucrats temporarily ship Fantozzi back to Earth while they sort out the paperwork.
His brief return is packed with the usual catastrophes. His retro-punk granddaughter gets kidnapped and the ransom nearly wipes him out. A runaway phone bill does the rest. His scheming colleague Silvani concocts a new extortion angle. Then, through a sequence of misfortune that only Fantozzi could manage, he winds up behind bars in place of his corrupt former boss.
This is late-period Fantozzi — Villaggio by now could play this role in his sleep, and the film leans into that comfortable rhythm. It won't convert new fans, but anyone who grew up with the series will find exactly the flavour they're after. Stream Fantozzi The Return (1996) online on iFILM.
