Synopsis
Digging for Fire (2015) is an American indie comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Joe Swanberg, it centers on Jake Johnson and Rosemarie DeWitt.
Tim and Lee, a married couple with a young kid, house-sit a swanky place in the Hollywood Hills for the weekend. Out in the yard Tim digs up an old bone and a rusted gun, and he can't let the mystery go. Lee just wants him to finally do their taxes and be present at home. The disagreement splits them onto separate paths: Tim and his buddies keep digging, while Lee sits alone with the harder questions about marriage and parenthood.
The film was largely improvised — Swanberg and Johnson wrote it together and left the cast room to riff — which is how it pulls in a deep bench of cameos: Sam Rockwell, Anna Kendrick, Brie Larson, Sam Elliott, Jenny Slate, Chris Messina. It is a quiet, talky look at an ordinary crisis that lasts a single weekend. Made for anyone who likes American indie with no loud plot turns. Stream Digging for Fire online on iFILM.
