Synopsis
At Any Price (2012) is an American drama directed by Ramin Bahrani — watch it online on iFILM. Dennis Quaid plays Henry Whipple, an Iowa seed salesman and farmer who has spent decades building the family operation and fully expects his son Dean to take it over. Zac Efron plays Dean, who has spent the same years planning his escape onto the racing circuit.
The two talk past each other constantly. Henry needs a successor and keeps projecting that role onto a son who doesn't want it; Dean needs out but can't say so cleanly enough to end the argument. Then a federal investigation into Henry's business practices surfaces — irregular seed sales, corners cut — and the pressure on both of them turns physical in a way neither can walk back from.
Bahrani frames the Midwest farming belt without nostalgia: the fields here represent debt loads, corporate seed contracts, and the specific trap of inheriting someone else's dream.
