Down by Love

Down by Love (Éperdument, 2016) — watch online on iFILM. Pierre Godeau's French drama draws from a real case: a prison director with a steady career and a family at home crosses a line he cannot uncross when he falls for one of the women in his care.

Guillaume Gallienne plays the official whose composure quietly unravels. Adèle Exarchopoulos is the inmate — young, guarded, and carrying her own reasons for everything she does. The story stays inside the walls of the institution, where any show of feeling is a professional crime. Godeau keeps his distance from both characters, refusing to make this easy by casting one as victim and the other as predator.
