Synopsis
Cop or Hood (Flic ou Voyou, 1979) is a French crime comedy directed by Georges Lautner — stream it online on iFILM. Jean-Paul Belmondo plays a police commissioner who rolls into a sun-soaked Riviera resort pretending to be the brother of a murdered prostitute, then methodically dismantles the local mob by sheer audacity.
The whole town is on the criminal payroll. A dead police inspector gets written off as collateral damage just to keep up appearances — that is how thoroughly the corruption runs. Belmondo's character blows up a casino, strips a mob boss at gunpoint and leaves him watching the explosion from a phone booth in the nude, then speeds through town in a luxury race car making no effort to look inconspicuous. The running question — cop or crook? — turns out to be exactly the wrong thing to ask about someone this reckless.
