Bodybuilder (2014) — watch online on iFILM. French actor-director Roschdy Zem wrote, directed and starred in this quiet drama set in Saint-Étienne. Twenty-year-old Antoine has run out of options: gang debts, a mother who is done covering for him, nowhere left to go. His family ships him off to a father he hasn't spoken to in years.

The father is a bodybuilder — rigid schedule, gym, almost no words. Nicolas Duvauchelle plays Antoine at the end of his rope; Zem plays the father, a man whose silence barely contains something more complicated. Zem the director knows how to film men who cannot say what matters, and that restraint gives the film its texture.
