Synopsis
No Highway in the Sky (1951) is a British-American thriller directed by Henry Koster that you can watch online on iFILM. James Stewart plays Theodore Honey, a distracted aeronautical engineer who has calculated that a new airliner will suffer catastrophic metal fatigue at exactly 1,440 flight hours — a finding his employer refuses to act on.
The problem: Honey is aboard that very aircraft, and the hours are almost up. A film actress (Marlene Dietrich) and an air stewardess (Glynis Johns) seated near him are the only ones starting to believe he might be right. Adapted from Nevil Shute's 1948 novel, the film turns a dry engineering argument into a very personal countdown at 18,000 feet.
