Synopsis
Transylvania 6-5000 (1985) is a horror comedy from Rudy De Luca, ready to watch online on iFILM. Two tabloid reporters get shipped off to Transylvania by an editor who wants one thing: proof that Frankenstein walks again.
Jeff Goldblum and Ed Begley Jr. play the hapless newsmen, poking around a gloomy village and bumping into a bashful Wolfman, the seductive vampiress Odette, and a pair of unhinged servants. The deeper they dig, the clearer it becomes that the classic monsters here are real, just absurdly harmless.
The cast is a treat: Geena Davis as the vampiress (she and Goldblum met on this set and later married), alongside Carol Kane, Michael Richards and Jeffrey Jones. The humor is broad and goofy, and the spoof of old Universal monster pictures comes with real affection for the genre. Easy late-night viewing for anyone raised on black-and-white Dracula films.
