Vampire Hunter D

Vampire Hunter D (バンパイアハンターD, 1985) is a Japanese anime horror-fantasy you can watch online on iFILM. The story is set in a distant post-apocalyptic future where vampire aristocrats have ruled humanity for millennia. When young farmer Doris is bitten by the terrifying Count Lee, she turns to a solitary wanderer called D for help — not knowing that D himself is a dhampir, the son of a vampire lord and a mortal woman.

Director Toyoo Ashida and studio Ashi Productions built a distinctive visual world where Gothic horror meets science fiction wastelands: crumbling castles, mutant creatures, and a lone swordsman who belongs to neither side. Adapted from Hideyuki Kikuchi's novel series, the film became a cult classic abroad — particularly in the United States, where it circulated on the anime festival circuit from the late 1980s onwards — well before gaining wide recognition in Japan.
