Synopsis
The Day of the Triffids (2009), Season 1 — a two-part British sci-fi mini-series you can watch online on iFILM. The setup is as bleak as it gets: a solar storm blinds nearly everyone on Earth overnight, and the carnivorous walking plants that were farmed across Britain take their chance.
Bill Masen (Dougray Scott) was in hospital with bandaged eyes when it happened. He woke up sighted. That makes him one of very few people who can still fight back. To stop the Triffids, Bill needs his estranged father and a genetic fix developed in time to matter — all while Eddie Izzard's Torrence carves out a brutal new order from what's left of London. The two-episode format plays like a feature film cut in half: dense, fast, no filler. Stream The Day of the Triffids Season 1 online on iFILM.

As the Triffids destroy Britain, Bill works with his father to clone a genetic mutation which will sterilise them all. Bill's future with Jo is wrenched apart with the arrival of Torrence from a London which has been overwhelmed. To escape, they will have to run the gauntlet between Torrence and the Triffids.
