From the outside it looked like executive coaching and women's empowerment. Inside sat a secret sorority called DOS, where members were branded, starved and blackmailed into obedience. India walks through it herself — how a friendly recruitment pitch became a trap she couldn't leave, and how her mother, actress Catherine Oxenberg, went to the press and the FBI to pull her out.
Director Cecilia Peck keeps the focus on the people Keith Raniere damaged rather than on the guru himself, bringing in cult-recovery experts Steven Hassan and Rick Alan Ross to explain the mechanics of control.
