Synopsis
Lupin the Third vs. Detective Conan (2009) is a Japanese anime crossover you can watch online on iFILM. It drops a gentleman thief and a pint-sized detective from two of Japan's longest-running franchises into a single case.
It opens with the strange deaths of a wealthy woman and her son during a hunt, a knot that Conan Edogawa sets out to untangle. At the same time, the master thief Arsène Lupin III has his eye on the Queen Crown, a treasure that belongs to the royal family of the tiny nation of Vesparand and its princess. The detective's investigation and the heist keep crossing wires, forcing the two legends to trip each other up and, now and then, team up.
Lupin goes back to Monkey Punch's 1967 manga, Conan to Gosho Aoyama in the 1990s, and fans had wanted them in one story for decades. This TV special was the warm-up for the 2013 theatrical feature.
