Freelancers

Freelancers (2012) is an American crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Jessy Terrero and starring Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson alongside Forest Whitaker and Robert De Niro. The cast does most of the heavy lifting, and it's enough.

A young man joins the NYPD after his father, a cop, was killed on duty. His father's former partner — Captain Sarcone, played by Whitaker — pulls him into an elite street-crime unit. The unit turns out to be operating well outside the law: stolen cash, covered-up killings, loyalty bought with envelopes. The closer the rookie gets to Sarcone's circle, the closer he gets to the truth about what really happened to his father. De Niro turns up as the senior figure who knows more than he lets on.

The film follows the genre template without reinventing it, but it follows it competently. If you're after a straightforward New York crime story with recognizable faces and a revenge arc that pays off cleanly, Freelancers delivers exactly that. Watch it online on iFILM.
