About

Synopsis

Empire (2002) is a street-level crime drama led by John Leguizamo, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Writer-director Franc. Reyes makes his feature debut with the story of a South Bronx heroin boss who wants out. Victor Rosa runs his trade like a corporation.

The neighborhood kingpin dreams of cleaning his money and leaving the corner on top. His way out seems to arrive through a smooth Wall Street broker (Peter Sarsgaard), who offers to spin dirty cash into legitimate investments. Victor moves uptown to Manhattan, his girlfriend (Delilah Cotto) believes in the fresh start — and then the two worlds, the projects and the trading floor, collide in a way he never priced in. The cast also pulls in Denise Richards, Isabella Rossellini and rapper Fat Joe.

Rooted in early-2000s New York hip-hop culture, the film runs on Leguizamo's narration and a hard moral: outsiders rarely get to keep a seat at someone else's table. It's a grounded pick for fans of street sagas like Carlito's Way and Donnie Brasco rather than glossy mob spectacle. Stream Empire (2002) online on iFILM.
