Synopsis
The Coward (কাপুরুষ, 1965) — watch online on iFILM. Satyajit Ray's chamber drama follows Amitabha Roy, a Calcutta screenwriter whose car breaks down in a small town. A tea planter, Bimal Gupta, offers hospitality for the night.
At dinner, Amitabha recognizes Bimal's wife, Karuna. She is the woman he loved and walked away from years ago. Now she is married, composed, and across the table. Ray constructs a quiet psychological trap from evening conversation and held glances — Soumitra Chatterjee and Madhabi Mukherjee, two of the director's most trusted collaborators, carry the whole film without raising their voices once.
