Synopsis
The Skull (1965) is a British horror you can watch online on iFILM. Dr. Maitland (Peter Cushing) collects occult curiosities, and when his usual dealer turns up with the skull of the Marquis de Sade, the collector cannot bring himself to refuse it.
The purchase quickly curdles. Something still lives inside the bone, and the longer the skull sits in his study, the harder it pushes the mild scholar toward murder. Christopher Lee plays a rival collector who has handled the cursed relic before and wants nothing more to do with it. Director Freddie Francis, an Oscar-winning cinematographer, stages much of the dread with almost no dialogue — silence, point-of-view shots peering out through the eye sockets, and a long nightmare sequence at the film's center.
Made at Amicus from a story by Robert Bloch, the man who wrote Psycho, this is slow-burn, old-school horror where the scare comes not from blood but from the creeping sense that the object on the shelf is alive. If you love the Cushing-and-Lee pairing, this quiet duel is worth your time. Stream The Skull (1965) online on iFILM.
