Year of the Dog

Year of the Dog (2007) is an American dramedy written and directed by Mike White that you can watch online on iFILM. Molly Shannon plays Peggy, a mild-mannered office worker whose world fits neatly into a few small containers — her job, her apartment, and her dog Pencil, who is the most honest relationship she has.

When Pencil dies suddenly, Peggy has nothing left to hold the rest of it together. She drifts toward her neighbor (John C. Reilly), finds herself drawn to a gentle animal-rescue volunteer (Peter Sarsgaard), and slides into a slow, self-directed radicalization she doesn't fully recognize until it's already underway. Laura Dern and Regina King play friends who love her and keep missing what she actually needs.
