Synopsis
Love Me If You Dare (Jeux d'enfants, 2003) is a French romance you can watch online on iFILM. Julien and Sophie meet as kids and invent one game that never ends: dare or no dare.
Passing a small tin carousel back and forth, they goad each other into ever bolder stunts — wrecking a class, ruining a wedding, gambling their own pride. Guillaume Canet and Marion Cotillard star, the latter in one of her early breakout roles. The years pass, each builds a separate life with other people, yet the dare keeps pulling them back together. Saying "I love you" out loud scares them more than any challenge ever could.
This is the debut feature from director Yann Samuell, shot in a saturated, almost fairy-tale palette that deliberately clashes with the cruelty the two inflict on each other. It is a story about two people who hurt each other because they don't know any other way. The ending splits audiences down the middle, and that is exactly its power.
