As a child, Elaina devoured a book about a traveling witch named Nike and swore she'd follow that path one day. Once she earns her own witch's title, she sets off. The show works almost like an anthology: every town is its own short tale, and plenty of them are far from gentle. Under the soft pastel scenery sit warm encounters and some genuinely cruel little fables about people. Elaina tends to watch rather than step in, which gives the whole thing a cool, slightly detached mood.
