The New Adventures of Aladdin

The New Adventures of Aladdin (2015) is a French comedy fairy tale you can watch online on iFILM. On Christmas Eve, two small-time crooks dress as Santas to loot a Paris department store. The scheme collapses when a crowd of kids corners one of them and demands a bedtime story.

So Sam improvises his own spin on Aladdin. In his telling, a broke street thief in Baghdad swipes a magic lamp, wakes a short-tempered genie, falls for a princess and blunders into the schemes of a wicked vizier. The story keeps tripping over modern jokes and cheerful anachronisms, because the narrator can't resist rewriting himself into every scene. Kev Adams plays the lead, with Éric Judor hamming it up as the villain.
