Synopsis
"The French Revolution" (La Révolution française, 1989) — watch online on iFILM — is a monumental two-part historical epic running close to six hours, produced across five countries to mark the bicentennial of the Revolution.
Directors Richard T. Heffron and Robert Enrico split the story at the moment Louis XVI lost his throne. Part one covers 1789 to 1792: the Estates-General, the fall of the Bastille, the constitutional monarchy, and its collapse. Part two drives through the Terror, the ascent of Robespierre, and the Thermidorian reaction that finally stopped the guillotine. The ensemble assembled for the production is extraordinary — Klaus Maria Brandauer, François Cluzet, Jane Seymour, Peter Ustinov, Sam Neill, Christopher Lee, and Claudia Cardinale among them.
Few productions before or since have attempted the Revolution at this scope. Stream "The French Revolution" (1989) online on iFILM.
