Futureworld

Futureworld (1976) is an American science-fiction thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Richard T. Heffron as a direct follow-up to Michael Crichton's Westworld. Two years after the android massacre at Delos, the corporation has poured over a billion dollars into its rebuilt resort and is now courting two journalists to prove nothing can go wrong again.

Reporters Chuck Browning and Tracy Ballard — played by Peter Fonda and Blythe Danner — arrive to file a feel-good story about corporate redemption. Then a dying man slips Chuck a warning before the trip, and once inside the park the reassuring gloss starts to crack. Yul Brynner makes a brief return as the gunslinger android, but the real threat has nothing to do with malfunctioning machines. The conspiracy runs much deeper, and the target is a great deal more consequential than amusement-park tourists.

Made during the height of 1970s techno-anxiety, the film takes the original's premise somewhere considerably colder: not robots going haywire, but humans being quietly and deliberately replaced.
