Out studying an invasive plant in the scorched valley, Elly rushes to help a small plane that has just gone down. The pilot turns out to be a green drug mule, who takes her hostage and marches her across the desert toward his drop at gunpoint — on foot, no water, in punishing heat. Back in town, the local sheriff opens a search while his headstrong daughter sets off to find the missing woman herself, with no idea who else is on the same trail.
