Synopsis
La Palma (2024), Season 1 is a Norwegian disaster drama you can watch online on iFILM — four episodes that follow Fredrik's family to the Canary Islands for Christmas just as young researcher Marie spots the first warning signs on the volcano.
The season is short and tightly wound, no padding. At first nobody believes Marie and her colleague Alvaro — an ash eruption gets waved off as nothing, though to the scientists it's only the opening act. Then the holiday turns into a race: the evacuation stalls, roads clog, and what everyone feared from episode one starts closing in. Underneath the spectacle, the family quietly falls apart, and each character is forced into a choice between saving their own and helping strangers.
Made for Netflix and drawn from real anxieties around the Cumbre Vieja volcano, these four episodes move with the pace of a feature-length disaster film but keep a cold Scandinavian restraint instead of Hollywood bombast. A solid pick for a tense one-evening miniseries. Stream La Palma Season 1 online on iFILM.
