Am I Racist?
It's not just a documentary. It's a social experiment.
Synopsis
Am I Racist? (2024) is a documentary comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Conservative commentator Matt Walsh goes undercover in the booming business of diversity, equity and inclusion training.
Walsh grows out a ponytail, pins on an ally badge and talks his way into seminars, coaching sessions and pricey anti-racism dinners as a wide-eyed would-be DEI consultant. The camera catches participants — including White Fragility author Robin DiAngelo — and tracks how much people will pay to feel guilty and where that money goes. The approach is a hidden-camera prank in the Sacha Baron Cohen mold, aimed squarely at America's culture war.
Justin Folk's film became one of the year's most-talked-about releases and a rare box-office hit for a documentary, cheered by Walsh's fans and torn apart by his critics. Be clear about what it is: a one-sided pamphlet built to provoke. For viewers who enjoy gotcha satire and undercover gags, it delivers.
