Synopsis
Saint☆Young Men (2013) is Noriko Takao's Japanese animated comedy, free to watch online on iFILM. Buddha and Jesus decide to take a vacation down on Earth, renting a cramped little apartment together in Tokyo and trying to pass as ordinary roommates.
The two founders of major world religions fumble their way through modern Japan. They shop at the supermarket, blow an afternoon at an amusement park, scrimp on rent, and work hard to keep their divine nature hidden from the neighbors. Buddha gets hooked on manga, Jesus struggles to suppress accidental miracles, and the halo has to stay tucked under a cap. The comedy lives in tiny, domestic collisions between the sacred and the mundane.
Adapted from Hikaru Nakamura's cult manga, the film keeps her trademark tone — warm, unhurried, and free of any mean-spirited jokes. It's a treat for fans of offbeat Japanese humor and anyone tired of save-the-world anime: nobody needs saving here, just two gods figuring out how to run a washing machine.
