Synopsis
The 100 Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared (2013) is a Swedish comedy-adventure you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Felix Herngren. Allan Karlsson turns one hundred in a nursing home. There is a ceremony planned, officials arriving to give speeches — and at that precise moment Allan slides out the window and starts walking. He ends up with a suitcase full of someone else's money, entirely by accident.
The film cuts between Allan's present-day Swedish road trip — a trail of bewildered strangers and increasingly annoyed criminals — and flashback decades that have him rubbing elbows with Truman, drinking with Franco, and inadvertently nudging the course of the Cold War. Robert Gustafsson plays the century-old anarchist with complete deadpan serenity, which is exactly the right choice: the comedy comes from the world reacting to Allan, not the other way around.
Based on Jonas Jonasson's novel that sold north of ten million copies worldwide, the film lands somewhere between Forrest Gump and a Nordic black comedy — a man who never worried about anything and outlived everyone who did. Stream The 100 Year-Old Man (2013) on iFILM.
