Synopsis
The Sunday Woman (1975) — watch online this Italian detective comedy by Luigi Comencini, with Marcello Mastroianni and Jacqueline Bisset.
A Turin architect named Garrone turns up dead, and Commissioner Santamaria draws the case. It pulls him straight into the city's upper crust — dinner parties where everyone is polished, cooperative, and lying through their teeth. His main suspect is Anna Carla, the kind of woman who makes investigators lose track of their questions; Santamaria plans to interrogate her and ends up ambushed. Meanwhile, Lello — boyfriend of Anna Carla's friend Massimo — runs his own parallel inquiry, muddying every lead the commissioner has. Then a second body appears.
The film adapts Fruttero and Lucentini's 1972 Turin mystery, a novel that turned the city into a landmark of Italian crime fiction. Comencini threads sharp class satire through the whodunit: every salon scene carries a dry comic edge. Mastroianni ditches his usual effortless magnetism for a flustered cop who can't stop making eyes at his primary suspect — while Jean-Louis Trintignant rounds out the cast as Massimo.
