About
Synopsis
Titanic: 20 Years Later with James Cameron (2017) — a 47-minute National Geographic documentary, watch it online on iFILM — revisits the disaster for the twentieth anniversary of Cameron's 1997 film.
Cameron has made more than thirty dives to the wreck, sitting at roughly four kilometres depth in the North Atlantic. Here he brings together a panel of experts, including oceanographer Robert Ballard who first located the hull in 1985, and works back through the sequence of events in the early hours of April 15, 1912. The tone is technical rather than commemorative — Cameron keeps pressing whether the received account of how the ship went down actually holds.
