Synopsis
Steel Rain 2: Summit (강철비 2: 정상회담, 2020) is a South Korean political thriller you can watch online on iFILM. The leaders of both Koreas and the United States gather for a peace summit. They leave it as prisoners aboard a North Korean submarine, dragged under by a sudden military coup.
What follows is one of the stranger hostage setups in recent memory. The South Korean president, the North's leader and the American head of state are sealed in a steel tube at the bottom of the sea, watched by a rogue officer, forced to talk while a nuclear standoff brews above them. Jung Woo-sung plays the peace-minded Southern president, Yoo Yeon-seok the Northern leader, and Angus Macfadyen a cynical man in the White House. Director Yang Woo-suk follows his own Steel Rain with something different: fewer firefights, more political arithmetic, and a streak of dark comedy in the tightest of spaces.
Across 132 minutes it lives on the contrast between a cramped sub and large-scale geopolitics, building to a powerful underwater climax. It's a good fit if you like Korean blockbusters with real political nerve and don't mind when the action pauses to argue over the fate of the peninsula. Stream Steel Rain 2: Summit online on iFILM.
