Synopsis
Gang Related (1997) — watch online on iFILM, a crime thriller directed by Jim Kouf and one of Tupac Shakur's final performances before his murder in September 1996. Detectives Da Vinci and Rodriguez have turned their badges into a racket: they set up drug buyers, close the deal, then shoot the buyer dead and pocket the cash and product. Every death gets filed as a gang killing.
The scheme collapses when their latest victim turns out to be a DEA agent working undercover. Both detectives end up assigned to investigate the very killing they carried out. Their play: find a throwaway suspect to take the fall. The homeless drifter they choose turns out to be far harder to frame than expected, and the walls start closing in. Dennis Quaid and James Earl Jones round out the cast.
The film opened posthumously — Tupac had finished his scenes months before he was shot. His pairing with James Belushi, two men corroding the institution they swore to serve, gives the film a weight its plot alone doesn't earn. Stream Gang Related (1997) on iFILM.
