Synopsis
"Action in the North Atlantic" (1943) — watch online a WWII film from Warner Bros. on iFILM, directed by Lloyd Bacon. Humphrey Bogart and Raymond Massey play merchant marine officers Joe Rossi and Steve Jarvis, who survive a German U-boat attack on their tanker and ship out again aboard the SS Seawitch, bound for Murmansk with an Allied convoy.
Somewhere in the North Atlantic, the U-boat finds them again. The convoy takes hits, escort contact is lost, and the Seawitch ends up alone — pursued by a submarine and strafed by Luftwaffe planes. Massey's captain is steady and methodical; Bogart's Rossi is sardonic and restless, the kind of man who does the job because it needs doing, not for speeches about it.
The film came out while the real Murmansk convoys were running — and losing ships every few weeks. That context gives it weight the studio war pictures of the era rarely earned. Stream "Action in the North Atlantic" (1943) online on iFILM.
