Friendship!

Friendship! (2010) is a German road comedy from Markus Goller, available to watch online on iFILM. Two guys from East Germany cross the whole United States on almost nothing.

It's 1989, the Berlin Wall has just fallen, and the West is finally within reach. Tom and Veit seize the moment and fly to New York. Veit has a private reason: somewhere in San Francisco lives the father who slipped away to the West twelve years earlier. The pair are nearly broke, and the only English word they picked up in school is "friendship." Armed with that and their thumbs, they hitch their way from the East Coast to the Pacific. Matthias Schweighöfer and Friedrich Mücke play the leads.

Along the road come stray companions, absurd scrapes and an America that looks nothing like the one they pictured from behind the Wall. Goller keeps it light and warm, a film about a friendship that survives empty pockets, old grudges and three thousand miles.
