Synopsis
My Name Is Loh Kiwan (로기완, 2024) is Kim Hee-jin's Korean melodrama, available to watch online on iFILM. Song Joong-ki leads as a refugee left alone in a cold, unfamiliar Europe.
Having fled North Korea, Loh Kiwan makes it to Brussels and tries to claim refugee status. He has no papers, no language, and the Belgian bureaucracy keeps bouncing him from one office to the next while he sleeps wherever he can. In that dead end he meets Marie (Choi Sung-eun), a Korean woman who long ago gave up on herself and on any future. Two lost people start clinging to each other, and something neither thought still possible slowly takes root between them.
Adapted from Cho Hae-jin's novel, the film leans on the quiet ache of two solitudes rather than on plot twists. Song Joong-ki plays it restrained, with no melodramatic excess, and that's exactly why his character lands. It's one for viewers who love unhurried dramas about survival, dignity and love against the odds. Stream My Name Is Loh Kiwan (2024) online on iFILM.
